SICAB 2009: Another Great Show!

Thanks to a travel scholarship from USPRE, we were delighted to travel to Spain this year with Lendon Gray, and Courtney and Jason Dye, who were making their first trip to Andalusia to attend SICAB--the world-famous horse fair dedicated to the PRE Horse. We met up with a number of Americans and old friends from around the world--many of whom are regular SICAB attendees--such as Alex and Lily Zilo of Wellington, Gustavo Aldanza and Raul Bucio from Southern California, Spanish friends Victor and Maya Alvarez, Daniel Martin, Juan Matute, former HGF trainer David De Wispelaere and Patrick Roggenbau visiting from Germany, HGF web-designer Remi Blot, and many more. The economy has impacted things there somewhat but the show did not appear to be less attended than other years, there were just as many beautiful examples of the breed, and the ANCCE Cup for Dressage was one of the best competitions in several years.

We were pleased to see how well the horses from Marin Garcia did in both the dressage and morphology arenas--generally dominating the functionality and movement categories, with Kabileno winning the Grand Championship of Functionality for the second year.
These bloodlines form part of the foundation bloodlines of HGF and the Marin Garcia brand is proudly displayed on both horses currently in training with Courtney, Grandioso and Cuatrero.

Our trip was a terrific time--both for learning and experiencing the Spanish culture which has produced our magnificent horse, as well as a good chance to reconnect with old friends and fellow PRE enthusiasts.
